I’m excited, hope it works!
I’ve been talking to a friend about his lovely alpine garden so thought I’d take a close-up look at the succulents and houseleeks by our little pond.
They’re so pretty. I thought they were stunning enough to be considered ‘treasurer’ in the BlackBerry Garden Chelsea Fringe - what a fun idea! The pond is nice and full but the frogs are a bit shy at the moment. It looks nice overgrown, but the bindweed needs pulling and some of the nigella otherwise that’ll cover everything else. Here are the potatoes. We covered them on Saturday night as there was a frost risk. It seems we got away with it, though the thermometer showed 2.3° in the polytunnel.
And a few Spring onions, meals for the future come to mind.
But for the timebeing we’re still living on rhubarb 😆
Mmm, rhubarb pancakes for breakfast and the presentation gave me a song title. I like this song by Imagine Dragons, I didn’t realise this was the title. Enjoy
Sadly I've only had a single Crown Prince germinate. I'm going to try other seeds to see if I get better luck. Oh, yes and Rhubarb by the gallon too.
ReplyDeleteOh, that’s a shame. Crown Prince is such a lovely looking squash. I think honeyboat are probably the tastiest for me though and a more sensible size!
DeleteIt's all looking good out there, and the squash tunnel is going to be amazing. I love your pond. I'm in the process of refilling my wildlife pond, there were at least 16 frogs in it when I emptied it, hopefully they're all back now as it's nearly up to the top. Today's rain helping nicely!
ReplyDeleteThanks, I can’t wait to get my squashes climbing!!
DeleteYour pond and frogs will be very happy with is rain, personally I’d be happy for it to have stopped over the weekend ☺️
Success to your squash tunnel. Most of my squashes have germinated. Over 20 so I don't know where I am going to put them all (but the school garden could be one idea)
ReplyDeleteThanks. I do love squash, but I need to think of a better storage solution than the polytunnel.
DeleteI’m sure a school garden would be very happy to see a squash-filled plot!
The sky shot is amazing. Just a thought about your squashes - will they cross pollinate?
ReplyDeleteIt was pretty awesome, but no thunder surprisingly.
DeleteApparently cross pollination will occur but I'm pleased to say it won't affect this year's harvest. However the seeds produced by these cross-pollinated fruits may be weird and wonderful (quite interesting but they're also likely to not be very tasty so I probably won't bother saving any seed - though It's quite tempting)
